INTERIOR DESIGN SERVICES - STAGES

STAGE 1 Taking the Brief

The design process begins with a thorough understanding of you and your space. During our initial consultation, we will:

  • Gather information on your requirements, preferences, and aesthetic vision, including your preferred design style

  • Understand your lifestyle to ensure the design supports how you live and use your home

  • Discuss any sustainability goals or considerations you may have

  • Define the full scope of work—room by room—based on your needs and priorities

  • Identify if additional consultants or specialists may be required for any part of the project

  • Establish your preferred method of communication throughout the process

  • Set a realistic timeline and budget for the project

  • This stage sets the foundation for a smooth, personalised design journey tailored entirely to you.

STAGE 2 Survey the Room

Once the brief is established, the next step is a thorough on-site survey to fully understand the space. This includes:

  • Recording key details of the property and its layout

  • Taking accurate measurements of all spaces involved

  • Surveying for fixed elements such as radiators, doors, windows, plug sockets, and architectural feature

  • Capturing photos and videos of each room for reference and planning

  • Identifying any potential restrictions—such as structural limitations or the need for planning permission

  • Discussing any existing furniture, fittings, or artwork you wish to retain and incorporate into the new design

This stage ensures we have a precise, practical understanding of your home, allowing the design to be both beautiful and achievable.

STAGE 3 Design Analysis & Development

At this stage, I review and analyse all the information gathered during our initial meetings, brief, and on-site survey. This includes:

  • Assessing your requirements, preferences, and the unique characteristics of your space

  • Evaluating the practical elements, including room layout, measurements, and any structural or planning considerations

  • Identifying opportunities and challenges within the space

  • Conducting any further research needed to inform the upcoming design stages (Stages 4–6), including sourcing materials, furnishings, and potential suppliers

STAGE 4 Concept & Moodboard

The concept phase marks the beginning of the creative journey. Here, we explore design styles, finishes, and key influences that will shape the overall look and feel of your space.

This stage includes:

  • A conceptual design presentation and moodboard, using carefully curated images, colours, textures, and materials to convey the desired atmosphere and style

  • Paint colour consultation, including sample selections for walls, ceilings, and woodwork

  • Suggestions for wall coverings, such as wallpaper, paneling, or specialist finishes

  • Fabric and finish proposals for soft furnishings, including curtains, blinds, cushions, upholstery, and built-in joinery like cabinets or bookshelves

  • Initial hardware suggestions such as handles, knobs, and fittings that complement the design direction

This stage is all about setting the tone—bringing together ideas and inspiration that will evolve into your unique interior.

STAGE 5  Detailed Design & Specification

Once the overall concept is approved, we move into the detailed design phase. This is where the vision becomes a fully realised plan, with every element carefully considered and specified for execution.

This stage includes:

  • Scaled floor plans, elevations, and layouts to visualise furniture placement, lighting, and spatial flow

  • Finalised colour schemes, finishes, and material selections

  • Detailed specifications for furniture, lighting, soft furnishings, bespoke joinery, and accessories

  • Lighting and electrical plans, including placement of sockets, switches, and fixtures (where applicable)

  • Technical drawings for custom or built-in elements such as cabinetry, shelving, and furniture

  • Coordination with contractors, trades, or other consultants (as needed) to review the proposed design and ensure feasibility

This phase ensures that all aspects of the design are accurately documented, ready for procurement and implementation—bringing the concept one step closer to reality.

STAGE 6   FF&E (Furniture, Fittings & Equipment)

With the design finalised, we move into the FF&E phase—where all the selected pieces come together to complete your space.

If you choose to have me manage the FF&E process, I will act as your agent to source, procure, and coordinate the delivery and installation of all furniture, fittings, and equipment.

This stage includes:

  • Sourcing and selecting furniture, lighting, rugs, accessories, and decorative items

  • Coordinating fabric and material sourcing for bespoke soft furnishings, upholstery, and window treatments

  • Access to trade-only suppliers and exclusive discounts passed directly to you

  • Requesting quotes and coordinating with trusted third-party specialists such as curtain makers, upholsterers, and bespoke cushion designers

  • Managing logistics around delivery, installation, and quality control of all specified items

This phase ensures that the final layers of your home are beautifully curated, expertly sourced, and professionally installed—bringing the full design vision to life.

This is where the vision becomes reality. The implementation phase is all about bringing every detail of the design to life with care and precision.

  • We work tirelessly to ensure each element is seamlessly integrated, resulting in a cohesive, balanced, and beautifully executed space

  • Final touches are thoughtfully added—styling, accessories, and finishing details that elevate the entire look

  • A final quality control check is conducted to ensure that every aspect of the design meets our standard of excellence

  • Any remaining adjustments are addressed so the space feels complete, polished, and ready to enjoy

This stage marks the exciting moment when your home is transformed into a space that truly reflects your personality, lifestyle, and aspirations.
